October 15, 2015

Greeting Memorial Families,
I hope that you all had a wonderful week and enjoyed your long weekend.  The Memorial staff closed our week last week with a professional development day.  Teachers spent the day working independently and with their grade levels on a variety of topics including evaluation, student growth and professional practice SMART goals, as well as diving deeper into the math curriculum.  We returned to a busy, but great week! Here are a few highlights and reminders.

Bus Evacuation Safety Drills

On Tuesday, we practiced our bus evacuation safety drills and everyone did a fantastic job!  Students practiced exiting from both the front and rear of the bus. Thank you to our bus drivers and Medfield PD for their support.

Aspen - Parent Information
If you have not had an opportunity to log on to the Aspen Parent Portal, please do so immediately.  Parents are asked to confirm contact and emergency information, acknowledge that they have read the parent handbook, and respond to a few other questions including a photo release.  It is very important that this information be current in our system.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We greatly appreciate it.

Summer Reading
On Thursday, we celebrated the role that our first grade students played in breaking the World Record for summer reading.  Congratulations to Soren, Cecilia, Danny, Annie, Keira, Liam, Thomas and Ethan for their outstanding efforts!  Next summer we are aiming to have even more Memorial students participate!  Thank you to the Memorial PTO for their support of this program.

Memorial Staff Professional Book Club
Did you know that 20 Memorial School staff members have signed up to participate in a staff book club?  The group will be meeting monthly to discuss Mindset by Carol Dweck.

As always, thank you for reading.
Have a great weekend!
Missy Bilsborough
