Dear Memorial Families,

Happy Halloween! What a great day at the Memorial School! Thank you to all who were able to come and enjoy the Halloween Spooktacular parades. Also, we want to say a huge thank you to the room parents and all of the many volunteers who helped to make our parties so much fun.  Lastly, thank you to Officer Manganello and the entire Medfield Police Department for the stickers and glow sticks!

Enjoy the evening and be safe!

Check out some of today's great moments!

Ocean World
On Monday and Tuesday, the Kindergarten students had an opportunity to learn about the various creatures that live in the ocean.  They touched different crustaceans including lobsters and crabs, examined shells, and even got to see a Sperm whale's tooth, two example of baleen, and the "sword" from a Swordfish.  In addition, each child had the chance to create a print of a starfish or skate.  Thank you to the CSA for sponsoring this wonderful program.

Preschool  Playground
Come help us celebrate the opening of the newly updated preschool playground at the Memorial School on Thursday, November 6th at 4 p.m.

The improvements were made possible, in part, by the generous donations made in recognition of Angie Typadis, "Mrs. T," on her retirement after 24 years of devoted service to the Medfield Public Schools as a preschool teacher.  As a result of these donations we were able to purchase four brand new pieces of equipment: a twisting adventure tunnel, a mountain climber, a climbing wall, and a 4 person spring a-bout.  O'Brien and Sons also generously donated a digger for our new sandpit.

Please join us for cookies, juice, and some playground fun as we show our appreciation to Mrs. T, who will be there for it's Grand Opening, and to show our thanks to everyone who generously contributed to this wonderful playground. Hope to see you and your kids there!

Thank you for reading!
Have a wonderful weekend and don't forgot to switch your clocks!

Sincerely,
Missy Bilsborough

WINTER CARNIVAL 2015
SATURDAY, MARCH 14

The first meeting of the Winter Carnival Committee is fast approaching!  At this time, we have 2 open committee positions for the Winter Carnival.  Descriptions are below.  Please contact Meghan Glenn at theglenns2005@hotmail.com if you are interested or have questions.

Volunteer Coordinator:
This person will work closely with the booth committee to coordinate volunteers that will help run the games/man the ticket booths/cotton candy etc.  This person may need to contact the middle school or high school in order to gather student volunteers.

Medfield Madness/ Prize Palace Coordinator:
This person is responsible for placing orders for both the prizes offered in the prize room, and those sold in the "Medfield Madness" booth in the lobby. These positions are linked because sometimes kids don't get enough stamps to collect the prize, but are able to buy it instead.  Can be co-chaired by two people.

As always, thanks for reading.
Have a great weekend!

Dear Memorial School Community,

Picture Day was a great success!  If you missed it, please be on the lookout for the make-up day (date TBD).  Picture packages should be arriving within a few weeks.

Please remember that there is no school for the children on Friday, October 10th due to a Staff Professional Development Day and Monday, October 13th due to Columbus Day.  We will see you on Tuesday!

On Monday, thanks to a MCPE grant, the entire school was excited to see FOODPLAY! This energetic and interactive presentation informed kids about making nutritional choices that are better for their bodies and minds.

On behalf of the Memorial staff, I would like to thank all who have shown their support this week.  It is been a difficult week and we greatly appreciate your kindness.  Thank you to the CSA for organizing today's luncheon and thank you to all who contributed. We are very grateful.

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Sincerely,

Missy Bilsborough

Hello Memorial Families,
I hope that you have all had a great week and are embracing the rain in the same way that one of our phenomenal kids did today. Bounding off the school bus, arms spread wide, she did a complete twirl and grinning ear to ear, exclaimed "I love the rain!"  For the lucky adults outside on morning bus duty who witnessed her joy, it was a fantastic way to start the day!

On Monday, October 6th, Memorial students will be seeing FOODPLAY, a national award-winning show designed to teach kids about healthy eating habits and the importance of being active.  We are super excited about this opportunity and would like to thank the MCPE for approving the grant to fund this production.  Watch for photos in next week's blog.

For more information on this program, please visit www.foodplay.com.
