Hello Memorial Families,
We would like to thank Shaw's Supermarket for donating $400 to the Memorial School as part of their new program entitled "We Love Our Schools." Representatives from Shaw's visited the school today to present the funds.
On Wednesday, teachers in Kindergarten and Grade One worked with math consultant, Shephali Fox as part of the ongoing district wide math initiative. Teachers discussed learning objectives and outcomes and worked to develop "I can" statements for students.
Volunteers are needed at Memorial Library! The Library needs help shelving books, straightening shelves, and checking out books. Because there is some training involved, we ask for a commitment for the school year, 50 - 60 minutes a session, once or twice a month. Volunteers can come during their child's Library class. We limit the number of volunteers to a total of 4 per class; 2 per each library session. If you are interested, please email your name and your child's teacher's name to Kerry Hennessy at kerrymhennessy@verizon.net. Thank you!
As part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, Medfield High School student, Julia Steeger, is working to raise awareness on the issue of how poverty affects kids. She is joining efforts with various organizations, including Cradles to Crayons, to assist children living in poverty. A collection unit has been placed at the Wheelock School for people to donate gently used clothes, books, and toys. In addition, on November 22nd, there will be a "Stuff the Truck" event at the Blake Middle School that focuses on winter clothing such as pants, boots, jackets and sweaters. For more information, please see the two flyers that are included in the Thursday packet.
Parent Pick-up
With all the great weather that we've been having, there have been many furry friends joining the pickup line at the end of the day. Please keep in mind that most days our preschool students are exiting the building at this time to head outside to play. Parents are asked to be mindful of this fact so that no hands, feet, or paws get injured.
Have a wonderful weekend and as always, thanks for reading.
Sincerely,
Melissa Bilsborough
Memorial School Principal
