TRANSITION DAY

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22nd

Transition Day for Current Kindergarten Students:

On the morning of June 22nd, your child will have an opportunity to meet their new teacher and classmates as part of our Transition Day events. Placement letters with your child's 1st grade teacher assignment will be sent home with your student on Tuesday, June 21st.

The schedule for all Kindergarten students on Transition Day is:

AMK/FDK STUDENTS:

Students will arrive on their regular bus

Dismissal at 11:40 AM

Transition Schedule Day for Current First Grade Students:

On the morning of June 22nd, your child will have an opportunity to meet their new teacher and classmates as part of our Transition Day events. All 1st grade students will be bused over to the Wheelock School to meet their 2nd grade teachers. Placement letters with your child's 2nd grade teacher assignment will be sent home with your student on Tuesday, June 21st.

Transition Day is a normal arrival and dismissal day for all current first grade students.

Flag Day
Congratulations to all of our first grade students who, on Tuesday, June 14th, celebrated Flag Day by performing several songs to honor our American symbols.  Thank you to all of the parents and special guests who were able to join us and thank you to Mr. Ruggiero and the staff for all of their hard work.

Dear Families,

As the end of the year is quickly approaching, please make note of the following dates:

June 14th -  FLAG DAY: 1^st Grade Only: 9:30 am-(doors open at 9:15 am)

June 22nd - Transition Day: Early Dismissal for All Kindergarten

June 23rd - Last Day of School: Early Dismissal & Report Cards go home

Transition Day Information

On the morning of June 22nd, students in Kindergarten and First Grade will "transition" to their next year's classroom where they will get to meet their teacher and classmates for the 2016-2017 school year.  

All current Kindergarten students will have early dismissal.

Incoming Kindergarten students and their parents will join us at 1:00 pm to meet their teacher and classmates.  While the children are in their classrooms, parents will have a short presentation in the gymnasium before returning to the classrooms to pick up their child.  We look forward to meeting the class of 2029!

Preschool Field Day!
The weather cooperated once more allowing for a great field day for our preschool students.  Thanks to all of our parent volunteers for helping to run the stations.

Dear Memorial Families,
Posting one day early today as I wanted to share some of the great photos from today's events and say a huge thank you to all who volunteered their time today! Field Day was a huge success and we would not have been able to do it without your help.  I would also like to thank Mr. Grace and Mrs. Gelinas for all of their hard work and planning.  The smiles on the kids' faces are a direct result of their
efforts.

Memorial Makerspace

Did you know that the Memorial School has its own Makerspace?  We do! Thanks to MCPE grants, we have a variety of materials for our students to build, explore and create with and we hope to add more!

What's a Makerspace?

At a recent Curriculum Meeting, Memorial staff members explored our newest additions to the Makerspace.  We had some great conversation as to ways to incorporate these materials into classroom instruction.  Integrating play and exploration while addressing learning standards will be an ongoing conversation in months to come.

Principal for the Day

I'd like to introduce you to our newest staff member.  On Friday, "Principal Aidan" joined me as Principal for the day.  He did an outstanding job delivering birthday pencils to all of our students (83!) who celebrate their birthdays during the summer months.  In addition, he decided that the students in his class deserved an extra recess making him a very popular principal.  Thanks for working hard Aidan!
